Road bikes
A road bike is a bicycle designed primarily for riding quickly on paved surfaces. Road bikes have a number of features that make them ideal for road riding, including:
- Lightweight frames and components: Road bikes are typically made from lightweight materials such as aluminum or carbon fiber, which helps to reduce the overall weight of the bike and makes it easier to ride uphill and accelerate.
- Drop handlebars: Drop handlebars allow riders to get into a more aerodynamic position, which can help to reduce wind resistance and save energy.
- Narrow tires: Road bikes typically have narrow tires with high pressure, which reduces rolling resistance and makes the bike faster.
- Stiff frames and forks: Road bike frames and forks are designed to be stiff, which helps to transfer power from the rider to the pedals more efficiently.
